Have you ever noticed how a child might struggle to sit through a ten-minute lecture but can spend two hours straight building a complex LEGO tower? At Funtime, we don’t believe children have “short attention spans.” We believe attention is a gift that a child gives to things they are genuinely interested in.<\/p>\n

1. Intrinsic Motivation<\/h3>\n

At Funtime, you won’t find sticker charts. When a child spends an afternoon baking, the reward isn’t a grade \u2014 it’s the warm, crusty loaf of bread they share with their friends. When a child finally masters a difficult crochet stitch, the “prize” is the sense of personal power.<\/p>\n

2. Deep Concentration and the “Flow State”<\/h3>\n

When a child is given the freedom to choose an activity that matches their inner developmental needs, they enter a state of Deep Concentration \u2014 the “Flow State.” Time seems to disappear. Difficult tasks become “fun” challenges. At Funtime, we protect this concentration.<\/p>\n

3. Limits within Freedom<\/h3>\n

Freedom of Choice doesn’t mean “doing whatever you want.” We practice Freedom within Limits<\/strong>: respect for materials, the “Cycle of Work” (cleaning up is part of the activity), and respect for others’ flow.
